Verbier, Switzerland - nov 22 2014. Martin Lewis and Alexandra Lundström on their skin hike in Verbier, in the Swiss alps. To climb a steeper part, they had to take their skis off. To do skinning, you need skis with a specific locking mecanism allowing the shoe to move, and you also need the so-called "seal skin" which is now made out of a synthetic material, creating friction with snow when moving the ski backward but staying smooth when moving forward.<br />
